A weathered deck doesn't need to be torn out. Most decks just need a real prep, a few replaced boards, and a fresh stain or sealer. The trick is the prep — pressure wash, full sand on every horizontal surface, board and rail replacement where the wood is too far gone. Then stain or sealer goes on a clean dry surface, which is the only way it actually penetrates and lasts. Skip the prep and the stain sits on top and peels in a year.

What We Don't Do (Yet)

We refresh and repair decks. We do not build new decks from scratch right now — that's structural work that requires a Florida Residential Contractor license, which we're actively pursuing. In the meantime, for new deck construction we partner with licensed contractors we trust. No bait-and-switch, no quoting work we can't legally do. When you're refreshing what's already there, we're your crew.

Stain Options

Transparent — wood grain shows through. Shortest lifespan (2-3 years in Florida) but the most natural look.
Semi-transparent — wood grain still visible, pigment adds some UV protection. 3-5 years.
Solid — full coverage. Longest life (5+ years) but covers the grain like a paint film.

Rotted, cracked, and warped boards swapped for new lumber. Failing rails repaired or replaced.

Premium stain or sealer rolled and brushed on a clean dry surface. Two coats where needed. Penetrating, not surface-sitting.

How long will the stain last in Florida?

3-5 years in Northeast Florida depending on exposure and stain type. Transparent stains last shortest (heavier UV exposure on the wood), solid stains last longest. We'll match your goal to the right product.

Can you match the existing color?

Most of the time, yes. We pull a few small test stripes during the assessment so you can pick the closest match (or pick a new direction). Old wood sometimes shifts the final tone — we set expectations on the call.

Can you replace a railing or post that's failing?

Yes. Failing rails and posts get replaced as part of the refresh. We'll quote railing replacement as a separate line so you can see exactly what you're paying for.

Can you remove old peeling paint or solid stain?

Yes. Full prep is part of every refresh — old failing coatings stripped, surface sanded, then new stain or sealer applied to clean wood.
