Inside corners are coped — not mitered — because seasonal humidity moves wood and a coped joint stays tight. Outside corners are mitered with glue and a brad. Every joint gets squeezed by hand before nailing to make sure the seam closes. Then we caulk the tiny gaps the wood is going to leave when humidity shifts.

Do you cope inside corners or miter them?

Cope. Inside corners get coped on a coping saw because mitered inside corners open as soon as the wood moves. A coped joint hides any movement — that's why it's the standard for paint-grade trim.

What trim profiles do you install?

Baseboard, door and window casing, crown, chair rail, wainscoting, picture frame molding, and shoe. Stock profiles from the big-box, premium profiles from a millwork supplier, or matched custom profiles for older homes.

Can you build a custom built-in (bookshelf, mudroom bench, window seat)?

Yes. We work from your sketch or build from a measurement and a description. Built-ins are framed on-site to fit the opening exactly — no big gaps filled with caulk and a prayer.

Can you re-do bad trim from a previous contractor?

Yes. Re-coping bad miters, re-caulking gappy joints, and re-nailing loose runs is some of the most common work we do. We can salvage the original trim if it's stain-grade and worth saving.

How do you handle scarf joints on long runs?

30-degree angle scarfs, glued and nailed, with a clamp until the glue sets. Hidden in a low-light spot whenever possible. Never butt-jointed.
